A new survey by Protiviti reports that despite overwhelming reliance by businesses on technology and an increase on information, the majority of companies don't place enough emphasis on IT risks. Risks could include not having a good data backup plan and disaster backup.
Mike Landman, CEO of Ripple IT, a company that tries to help technology run for businesses with fewer than 100 employees, said that even though data backup may be a boring task, all businesses and CEOs need to understand data backup
According to Greg Schulz, author of the book "Cloud and Virtual Data Storage Network," data backup is far from a dead technology. Instead, he writes on Sys-Con.com, the technology is evolving to protect data instead of just back it up.
After a reader named Karl wrote into Lincoln Spector's blog on PCWorld asking if cloud backup makes sense when making small, frequent changes to a very large file, Spector did some testing of his own.
